One of the major benefits of having a podcast is that I get to talk to published writers.
Few things impress me more than someone who’s able to finish a book and publish it.
I’m working on one myself, so I can really use the inspiration!
And one of the main benefits of having a - more or less - Aikido themed podcast is that I get the chance to talk to published writers who are also martial artists… or maybe it’s the other way around…
I can’t emphasize enough how indispensable Ellis’ work has been to my foray into the philosophico-literary depths of Aikido.
If you haven’t yet read his writing, I highly suggest checking it out.

I don’t want to give away too much of our conversation, let’s just say we covered some ground.
We covered topics such as O Sensei’s purported role in assassination attempts, mediated spirit possession (my favorite subject), internal power, chimp strength, and much more.
I’m going to write about my impression of the discussion over this weekend - for now I’ll just give you the links below so you can hear it for yourself
In the bonus, Ellis mentioned Kuroiwa Yoshio sensei - here’s a link to one of his videos: Kuroiwa Sensei. He’s a fascinating character and is written about extensively and eloquently in Ellis’ book Dueling with O Sensei
Ellis also mentioned (in the bonus) about a “vector practice” he’s developed. Well, I’ll share the link to that too: Vector practice
